چکیده

LEO-II is a standalone, resolution-based higher-order theorem prover that is designed for fruitful cooperation with specialist provers for first-order and propositional logic. The idea is to combine the strengths of the different systems. On the other hand, LEO-II itself, as an external reasoner, wants to support interactive proof assistants such as Isabelle/HOL, HOL, and OMEGA by efficiently automating subproblems and thereby reducing user effort. LEO-II predominantly addresses higher-order aspects in its reasoning process with the aim to quickly remove higher-order clauses from the search space and to turn them into essentially first-order clauses which can then be refuted with a first-order prover. For this LEO-II cooperates with the first-order theorem provers E, Spass or Vampire.

Understanding LEO-II's proofs

The Leo and Leo-II provers have pioneered the integration of higher-order and firstorder automated theorem-proving. To date, the Leo-II system is, to our knowledge, the only automated higher-order theorem-prover which is capable of generating joint higherorder–first-order proof objects in TPTP format. This paper discusses Leo-II’s proof objects. The target audience are practitioners with an int...

LEO-II - A Cooperative Automatic Theorem Prover for Classical Higher-Order Logic (System Description)

LEO-II is a standalone, resolution-based higher-order theorem prover designed for effective cooperation with specialist provers for natural fragments of higher-order logic. At present LEO-II can cooperate with the first-order automated theorem provers E, SPASS, and Vampire. The improved performance of LEO-II, especially in comparison to its predecessor LEO, is due to several novel features incl...

LEO-II and Satallax on the Sledgehammer test bench

Sledgehammer is a tool that harnesses external first-order automatic theorem provers (ATPs) to discharge interactive proof obligations arising in Isabelle/HOL. We extended it with LEO-II and Satallax, the two most prominent higher-order ATPs, improving its performance on higher-order problems. To explore their usefulness, these ATPs are measured against first-order ATPs and built-in Isabelle ta...

Topics for Thesis Projects

The old LEO-I system [4] was prototypically integrated with first-order automated theorem provers using the agent based OANTS architecture [5, 3, 6]. This integration has been shown superior over pure first-order automated theorem proving in selected problem domains [7]. The task is to develop a new and ideally improved OANTS architecture for the new LEO-II prover [8], which is currently using ...
